OKAY SO LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT SPACE INVADERS EXTREME 2, OKAY? OKAY.
You see the video above? This is Invader Girl’s level. I bought this game in 2010 for very cheap and I was happy about it because I had seen trailers and it looked so cool and arcadey. And it is.
But wow ok look:
THAT LEVEL.
THAT FUCKING LEVEL.
IS REALLY GOD DAMN HARD, YOU HAVE NO IDEA.
AND YOU KNOW WHAT IS WORSE?
IT’S A SHIT TON OF FUN.
It’s areally interesting level because it has REALLY cool music and REALLY cool sound and button mashing goodness that it’s like a constant flow of dopamine as points rack up like crazy every bullet you shoot.
And the level is virtually impossible to beat, you have NOOO IDEA.
BUT IT’S SO MUCH FUN YOU GUYS.
I never had a game experience like this one.
It’s been about 4 years since I reached to this level and I still haven’t beat it.
But damn.
It’s fun.
Play Space Invaders Extreme 2.
These current ads are like a curious hybrid of the Get N or Get Out era and the Wii Wanna Play era… they are crazy and yet… “formal”…
I kinda like them.

I feel like I didn’t fully express my feelings for the quaint music in Contact. The game is VERY strange in structure, but it’s also atmospherically relaxing. It makes me feel nostalgic but not exactly about video games. It sort of DOES have a gamey nostalgia scent on it (kinda sounds a bit like Chrono Trigger) but it pushes the boundaries to something a bit more outside.
They use some europop music elements to it too reminding me of younger times in a subconscious level. Maybe it also makes me imagine what exploring the capacities of, say, the Nintendo 64 could have brought beyond just the 3D environments.
Maybe it’s all personal and very unrelatable to anyone else. but it does trigger some positively melancholic memories.
